It has been widely demonstrated that, in the vast majority of cases, animal feeds are subject to multiple contaminations and that toxins often have an additive effect. In other words, contamination by several toxins, even at seemingly low levels, has clear and significant effects on animal health and production performance. The use of broad-spectrum mycotoxin adsorbents, and not only mineral-based ones, is therefore essential to limit the harmful effects of mycotoxins.
OPTISORB TRISORB is a complementary feed with broad-spectrum action against the main mycotoxins through three distinct mechanisms of action: binding, transformation and degradation.

• The binding action is performed by minerals of different types and by leonardite, which can capture the main toxins with high and intermediate polarity (aflatoxins, ochratoxins, fumonisins). Toxins with low polarity, such as zearalenone, are bound by hydrolysed yeast cell walls. These binders bind the mycotoxin in the rumen, and the bond remains stable in the abomasum and intestine, which prevents the toxin from being absorbed.
• The biotransformation and biological degradation of toxins is performed by the enzymes in the cytoplasm of the hydrolysed yeast cells. This action is essential to limit the effects of low-polarity toxins that are very difficult to bind chemically, such as T-2 toxin and, above all, DON. These mycotoxins must be degraded at the epoxide ring that characterises their chemical structure, which makes them non-toxic.
